How mindful are you?
Here is a quick and easy quiz to help demonstrated what mindfulness is, and help you determine how mindful you are.
- Set a timer for 3 minutes.
- Sit in a comfortable position (chair or floor)
- Close your eyes
- Bring your attention to what you hear around you.
After the alarm sounds, ask yourself the following questions: Was I able to keep my attention on only the sounds of the room? Did my mind drift to the past? Did my mind drift to the future? How often did my thoughts get in the way of focusing on the sounds? Was I uncomfortable with the silence? Was I judgmental during the 3 minutes? When I noticed (or if I noticed) my mind wander, was I able to re-direct and focus again on the sound?
If you were able to focus completely on the sound for the entire 3 minutes, then you probably don’t need the assistance of Tranquility Workshops. If you’re like most of us and your mind/thoughts were on a fast moving train to nowhere, then you could benefit from some training in mindfulness.
