Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay) is a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, Zen master, teacher, scholar, poet, author (of over 100 books), and peace/human rights activist. In August of last year, Diane and I were fortunate to attend one of Thay's retreats, held at Stonehill College (Easton, MA), which was entitled: "Be Peace, Be Joy, Be Hope". It was there that we spent time studying and practicing the principles of mindfulness, with Thich Nhat Hanh as our teacher.
In 1967, he was nominated by Martin Luther King, Jr. for the Nobel Peace Prize. Oprah recently met with "Thay" at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manhattan, where they discussed "mindfulness", which is living fully in the present moment.
