Many of us are so busy rushing around on auto-pilot, that we may fail to notice the needs of our physical bodies, or we are reluctant to take the time to address them. Take a few minutes on a daily basis, to notice how your body is attempting to communicate with you. As you tune into your body, do a scan from top to bottom, noticing any problem areas, such as:
- signs of physical illness/body discomfort
- dry skin
- thirst
- fatigue
- muscle tension
- weight issues
- dental problems
- indigestion
Take the necessary time and action to address your findings and make any necessary changes, so that your body can return to it’s optimal level of functioning. This may involve taking some of the following actions:
- Treat your physical illness with appropriate measures, and seek medical advice as necessary.
- Keep your skin well-moisturized.
- Maintain adequate hydration throughout the day.
- Get the appropriate amount of rest/sleep for your needs.
- Address muscle tension with relaxation, massage, yoga….
- Make healthy food choices, limit portions, eat “mindfully”, join a program or support group, exercise
- Address any dental concerns (bleeding gums, tooth discomfort) with your dentist;
- Pay attention to foods that may not agree with you, and avoid eating/drinking those things.
Make your own physical well-being a priority this year, and give it the attention it needs and deserves.
