When I look back at my journal entries from the past month, my passion for mindfulness is reinforced. On auto-pilot, I feel like a robot, just going through the motions of my day, treating myself, other people, situations, and things in a very nonchalant way.
Mindfulness has helped be become more grateful and aware of how precious all of my blessings are in my life, and I want to truly enjoy them all while I have the chance.
Mindfulness of relationships is so very important. I want to fully give my love and attention to those close to me, and never take their presence for granted. What can be better than giving and receiving love?
I love the fact that I now truly connect more with nature as well, as all of it is so beautiful, exquisite, amazing, mood-enhancing and ever-so-changing. On auto-pilot, I mindlessly walk by miraculous things. When I’m “in the moment” I can take it all in: the landscape, trees, flowers, birds, animals, weather, breezes, clouds, grass, scents, colors, seasonal changes….).
Mindfulness has helped me slow down my hurried pace, take one thing at a time, regulate my emotions, think before speaking when angry, worry less (because I stay anchored in reality, instead of in imaginary thoughts about what could happen in the future), and give important decisions deep thought.
Mindfulness has even improved my safety (as well as the safety of others), as I am now dedicated to keeping my car a “no phone zone” while I’m driving.
At this point, I can’t imagine my life without using mindfulness. It would be like being half awake with blinders on, in a world where everything is just ordinary. Use all of your senses to explore what’s in front of you at any given moment. Life is not ordinary, unless you look at it that way. Life is amazing! Take it all in and don’t miss of minute of it’s preciousness if you can help it.
As I continue along my own path in mindfulness, I will now start focusing on using it to enhance my health, by paying attention to nutrition and physical activity. Although I won’t be journaling on a daily basis, I will be posting regular updates on my progress.
I hope that you’re finding that mindfulness is something that can be used at any time and any place. You just have to remember that you need to turn it on.
Thanks for joining me on this month-long journey. Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions or comments. I would love to hear from you!
