Before this 30 day mindfulness journal is over, I need to remind everyone, including myself, about the dangers of not being mindful while driving. A split second is all it takes to get in an accident, and no one should get hurt or die because someone was texting or making a phone call. For your safety, as well as the safety of everyone else, please take this seriously. There is no taking back the damage that could be done by driving mindlessly. Through Oprah’s initiative, today is National No Phone Zone Day. I understand that it’s a hard habit to break, but try to be mindful of not using the phone today while driving. Pull over, if necessary, to take care of important business. If interested, you can go to Oprah’s website to take the pledge (there are 3 different levels of commitment). There is no message or conversation that is worth losing a life over. I am taking the pledge, and in fact, I will be handing my cell phone to my grandson while we’re riding in the car, to ensure that I won’t be mindless about the safety of his precious life.
This is choice that we can make to help make the roads a safer place for everyone. If you’re going to be mindful about one thing……this is it!
