Don’t ever let procrastination talk you out of stopping to pay attention to special things and moments. I’ve been meaning to take more time to enjoy and take pictures of the beautiful flowering blossoms on the trees. Well, in some cases, I may have waited too long. Today, the cold wind and the rain caused many of the trees to lose their flowers prematurely. All done now until next spring. Enjoy whatever you can, while you can. In the blink of an eye, things can be gone. And….there’s no going back. Every moment is a gift. Hence my favorite quote: “You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.” Every day I try to be mindful of all of the blessings I have in my life, and enjoy them to the fullest.
Today was my grandson’s actual birthday, and I put everything aside (that I possibly could) to enjoy the moments of this special day with him, as they unfolded. What could have been more important than that? Certainly not cleaning, doing laundry, talking on the phone, being on the computer……! The day is now gone, but I enjoyed it to the max, and so did he.
Actually, he did the same for me, when I celebrated my birthday in March. His entire focus that day was making me happy. What a precious gift that was! You can’t buy that in a store! Even when he left my house that evening at 8 PM, he reminded me: “Keep having a happy birthday, Amma. It’s not over yet!”
What wise words from a 4 year old.
Yes, once again, I’ll reinforce that mindfulness is contagious. Get infected and spread it around!
